OAKLAND (KRON) — No BART trains will be running between the Fruitvale and Coliseum stations in Oakland over the weekend as crews continue to repair work that they started last month.

The closure will let crews repair part of the track that has worn-down wooden ties between the tracks. The switch, which lets trains move from one track to the other is also very worn out, according to BART officials.

The closure will start early Saturday morning and last until 8 a.m. Monday, which is Memorial Day. Previous closures on this project have lasted until about 4 a.m. on Monday, but those were not on holiday weekends.

Service on the Fremont-Daly City line will be shut down, which means passengers riding north from Fremont must use the Richmond train and transfer at Bay Fair station to a Dublin/Pleasanton-Daly City train, according to BART.

There will be a free bus that riders can take to get from the Coliseum station to the Fruitvale station. BART officials say riders should expect delays of up to 60 minutes.

Rather than the scheduled times, trains will be running at 20-minute intervals.

Service between the Coliseum station and Oakland International Airport will be operating normally.

More weekend closures to finish the repairs are planned through August.
