How do you slice a bagel?

it may seem like the norm to most people that a bagel is sliced in half horizontally before being with or without cream cheese, butter, or whatever other spread you enjoy.

If you’re in St. Louis, apparently that is not the norm.

Alex Krautmann’s tweet showing a photo of Panera bagels sliced like… sliced bread.. lit up the internet instantly and caused quite the divide.

As you can see in the photo, bagels are sliced like regular white bread.

“Today I introduced my coworkers to the St Louis secret of ordering bagels bread sliced. It was a hit!” he tweeted.

Of course, the Twitterverse was quick to chime in on what could be seen as either a hit or an utter disaster.

One Twitter user said, “It’s like a crime scene.

Another said, “You should be ashamed of yourself.”

“I’m from #STL and I’m here for the bread slice bagels! It’s a better cream cheese to bagel ratio!” Hannah tweeted.

“… since they are sliced, that means I can have more than 1 bagel sandwich at a given time! Or if I prefer 1 slice w/ cream cheese, I can have 1 slice w/ butter, or 1 slice w/ jam, or hummus! #bagelbuffet!” David tweeted.

Even Chips Ahoy got in on #BagelGate, tweeting a video showing how people in St. Louis apparently eat cookies, drowned in milk while still in its original packaging.

And it seems like things get even more interesting!

Apparently St. Louis cuts pizza in squares instead of slices? We’re hungry for #PizzaGate too.
