A burglary investigation is underway at the Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) designer store in San Francisco’s Union Square on Wednesday.

The incident happened at around 4:40 a.m. at the store located on Geary near Grant Avenue.

Police say a thief backed a car into a window of the store then jumped out of the vehicle and grabbed several items before fleeing.

The suspect left behind what appears to be a spare tire.

A look inside the store shows some empty shelves where handbags and shoes are normally displayed.

In recent years, the Bay Area has seen a slew of brazen smash-and-grab robberies of high-end stores, including Chanel and Tiffany & Co.

The Business Improvement District has 350 cameras spread throughout Union Square and authorities are looking at the video in hopes of tracking down the suspect. In the meantime, the district is considering having someone monitor these cameras overnight.

No arrests have been made in this most recent case.
