Authorities say an improperly installed electric livestock fence sparked a wildfire that’s burned for more than a week and destroyed 20 buildings in Northern California.
State fire officials say Wednesday that the blaze in Yolo and Napa counties is 86 percent contained after charring nearly 141 square miles (363 square kilometers) of dry brush in steep terrain.
The fire started June 30 and forced evacuation orders that have since been lifted.
Officials say the party responsible for the improperly installed fence has been cited.
Milder weather is helping crews make progress against several other major fires in the state — including one that jumped the Oregon border and has destroyed more than 80 structures.
