AT&T offers a hefty reward for information on vandalism in the East Bay

LIVERMORE (KRON) — AT&T is offering up to $250-thousand dollars for information leading to the arrest and conviction for fiber vandalism in Alameda County.

Most recently, the vandals cut fiber in two different manholes and disrupted internet service.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced in July that a dozen incidents had occurred in Northern California over the past year.

AT&T spokesman Jim Greer says, “the most recent incident happened Monday night in Livermore.”

Service was not restored until Wednesday morning.

Following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, AT&T’s networks were declared National Critical Infrastructures in recognition of their importance to the nation’s security.

Anyone who tampers with, destroys or disrupts the company’s network or its components is in violation of federal and state laws.
