At least one dead after vehicle goes 400 feet down embankment

SONOMA COUNTY (BCN) — At least one person is dead in a Friday evening crash in Sonoma County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP Officer Eric Anderson said the first report of the crash off state Highway 1 just north of Meyers Grade Road came in at 5:28 p.m.

Anderson said a vehicle went 400 feet down an embankment. Officers searched the area Friday for the person involved in the crash but had to call off the search because of fog, Anderson said.

The CHP used a helicopter this morning to lower an officer down the embankment where the officer found a body, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.
