FAIRFIELD (KRON) — Vacaville police have arrested a 30-year-old man accused of stabbing and killing a 57-year-old Fairfield resident, according to Fairfield police Sgt. Matt Bloesch.

Police said Gregory Washington murdered Mark Pyne on Sept. 19 on West Texas Street. Washington was arrested on Sunday after a tip from a citizen.

“The Fairfield Police Department would like to thank the alert citizen for calling in the tip and the Vacaville Police Department for their assistance in this case,” Bloesch said.

Vacaville police detained Washington and notified Fairfield police. Washington was booked into Solano County Jail on one count of murder.

Police received a call around 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 19 about an unresponsive male in the grass in the 1700 block of West Texas Street at Fifth Avenue, police said.

On Wednesday, police released surveillance images of a person of interest.
