MONTEREY COUNTY (BCN) — A transient man with a loaded handgun was arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of growing marijuana, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

Ismael Duran, 48, was arrested around 5 p.m. Friday while trespassing on private property in the vicinity of River Road, which runs parallel to Interstate Highway 101 south of Salinas.

Duran is thought to be connected to a 765-plant marijuana grow at that location.

Duran was in possession of a .45-caliber handgun at the time of his arrest, and a loaded .22-caliber rifle was located in his nearby camp, according to sheriff’s deputies.
