SAN LEANDRO (KRON) — One adult suffered minor injuries after a two-alarm fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in unincorporated San Leandro, an Alameda County fire spokeswoman said.
The fire victim was then transported to a hospital, fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.
Firefighters received a call around 1:05 p.m. about a fire at the Fairmont Palms two-story apartment complex on the 1700 block of Tanager Avenue.
They arrived at the scene and found the flames in a corner unit on the second floor of the complex.
According to Knowles, the unit the fire started in was destroyed. It belonged to a family of four and the American Red Cross is currently assisting the family in finding temporary housing.
Two other units in the apartment complex sustained smoke damage and two others sustained water damage, Knowles said.
The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
