Antioch police arrest man for possessing cocaine and methamphetamine with intent to sell

ANTIOCH (KRON) — Antioch police have arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly having cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of selling, according to Sgt. Jimmy Wisecarver.

Police said they arrested Deon Culberson on Thursday morning at around 10 a.m. after trying to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Lone Tree Way and Hillcrest Avenue. But he jumped out of his car, prompting an officer to chase after him, according to police.

When the officer caught up with Culberson, he fought with the officer, police said. Culberson was eventually taken into custody and was arrested for the vehicle pursuit.

After getting a search warrant for Culberson’s car and home on Dali Court in Oakley, detectives found a large amount of cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as a big amount of cash and ammo for various guns.

Detectives also found the drugs were intended to be sold, Wisecarver said.

Culberson was taken to the Marin County Detention Facility to face charges.

Earlier in March, at about 9:20 p.m., Antioch police arrested Culberson for having a loaded and concealed firearm. This arrest also happened after a traffic stop.

Police found that Culberson is a convicted felon and was not allowed to have a gun.
