BERKELEY (KRON) — An Amtrak train hit and killed a person on the tracks Thursday afternoon, according to Amtrak spokesperson Vernae Graham said.
The fatality happened at around 3:15 p.m., according to Graham. Graham said the train hit a “trespasser” 3 miles east of the Berkeley station.
It did not occur at a road crossing, Graham said. One track is operating at restricted speeds in the area.
Passengers should expect delays. Passengers on the train involved in the accident will be transferred to another train, Graham said.
No injuries were reported to passengers or crew.
