American flag stolen from Los Angeles World War II monument

LOS ANGELES, CA (KRQE) – Los Angeles Police are searching for the person who stole an American flag from a World War II monument honoring Japanese-American veterans.

The Black Granite Monument bears the names of more than 16,000 veterans.

Many of them were ordered into U.S. internment camps two months after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor.

A year later, they were asked to fight for their country.

Officials say they were disappointed the flag was taken but don’t think there’s any evidence of ill intent toward the veterans.
