OAKLAND (KRON) — The Amazon Prime Now service became available in the East Bay for the first time on Thursday.

Company officials announced that the free two-hour delivery service for Prime members has come to more Bay Area cities. East Bay residents can download the mobile app which gives customers access to tens of thousands of items.

San Francisco and San Jose have had the option since November. Now, the service will reach from San Pablo to Hayward.

One-hour service costs $7.99 per delivery, and the cost to be a prime member is $99 a year.

Prime Now is really good if you’re in a pinch,” Amazon spokeswoman Ashley Robinson said.

People who have a baby napping or who have guests coming should find it useful. Or people who have had a long day at work and do not want to go out.

The service in the East Bay is available from San Pablo to Hayward and east to Walnut Creek.

The service became available in San Francisco and the San Jose area in November 2015, company officials said.

Some of the items available include produce, frozen foods, such as pizza and ice cream, and household cleaning supplies.

Other items, such as toilet paper and even big screen TVs, are also available, Robinson said.
