ROHNERT PARK (BCN) — A 25-year-old woman was arrested Sunday night in Rohnert Park for allegedly evading police and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Around 10:15 p.m. an officer near the Target store at 475 Rohnert Park Expressway witnessed a white Toyota Scion speed out through the parking lot and onto Redwood Drive, police said.

The officer attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop, however the car continued heading southbound in the northbound lanes of Redwood Drive reaching speeds of about 65 mph, with the headlights off.

According to police, the officer pursued the vehicle and used caution while attempting to stop the alleged reckless driver.

When the Toyota quickly turned onto Redwood Drive and into the Rancho Feliz Mobile Home Park, it nearly collided head-on with a vehicle that was attempting to exit the park, police said.

The driver, identified as Rohnert Park resident Verenice Munoz Gomez, was eventually stopped and apprehended without incident, according to police.

Gomez was arrested on suspicion of evading police and DUI and booked into the Sonoma County Jail, police said.
