SEATTLE (KRON) — There were likely some happy employees at your Starbucks on Monday morning.
Pay raises between 5 and 15 percent took effect on Monday for 157,000 workers in the United States.
This summer, Starbucks announced base pay hikes of at least 5 percent for employees at company-owned stores.
Also, there was a doubling of company stock awards for workers of two years or more.
Salary tracking website Glassdoor said employees average $9.35 an hour, with shift supervisors averaging more than $11 an hour.
Customers might be helping to cover some of the pay raises.
In July, Starbucks raised the price of some of its drinks up to as much as 30 cents.
