OAKLAND (KRON) — KRON4 sources have learned that an Alameda County District Attorney investigator and former Oakland police commander has been placed on administrative leave in connection with the Celeste Guap sex scandal investigation, a story first broken by KRON4.
KRON’s Haaziq Madyun broke this story just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
The District Attorney’s Office has responded to the allegations.
“The District Attorney’s Office is conducting a thorough investigation into allegations of sexual misdconduct involving police officers at multiple east bay law enforcement agencies. While the investigation remains active, we will not comment on details or findings. However, we would like to make known certain facts,” Alameda County District Attorney spokeswoman Teresa Drenick said.
Drenick said an inspector with the DA’s office was put on administrative leave on Wednesday.
“While it is our practice not to discuss pending investigations, I can firmly state that we do not and will not turn a blind eye to human trafficking or the sexual exploitation of a minor, whether the offender is a civilian or a law enforcement officer,” District Attorney Nancy O’Malley said. “The alleged conduct of the officers in this matter is not in line with what our office and the wider community feel is acceptable for those who are sworn to protect and serve.”
“The Alameda County DA’s Office is a national leader in the fight against human trafficking, aggressively prosecuting traffickers and purchasers through our dedicated H.E.A.T. (Human Exploitation and Trafficking) Unit. Regardless of the setting in which we uncover human trafficking in our community, we vigorously enforce the law,” Drenick added.
The district attorney’s office said it will conduct a full investigation of the matter and will release their findings to the public as soon as it can.
“For years, we have been fighting to shatter the perception of children as ‘prostitutes’ and criminals undeserving of protection. These young people are victims of abuse. We have worked hard to educate the community about this issue that previously existed in the shadows,” O’Malley said.
This is the latest information to come in related to the fallout of the ever-widening sex scandal involving a once underage call girl.

Last week, KRON was the first to report Chief Sean Whent’s resignation. Sources tell KRON he stepped down amid mounting pressure.
Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf said on Monday she received information about interim police chief Ben Fairow, which raised concerns as to whether he could lead this department at this critical time.
Fairow is now out as Oakland’s top cop.
