MANCHESTER, N.H. (WWLP) – Saturday night, seven Republican candidates made their last nationally-televised push to the voters before Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary. Saturday’s debate featured a couple of tense exchanges, including one between businessman Donald Trump and the audience, who booed him quite loudly at one point. The businessman said that the audience was full of donors and special interests supporting other candidates.
Some other buzzworthy moments in Saturday’s debate included the introductions, when Dr. Ben Carson did not emerge from the hallway after being introduced, and some other candidates passed him by as they were introduced themselves.
Heated exchanges between Florida Senator Marco Rubio and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie also received a lot of attention, while John Kasich’s calm demeanor also drew interest.
Google has been closely tracking online activity during the debate. Nationwide, Donald Trump has been the most searched candidate, generating the most interest in the vast majority of states. By debate’s end, however, one of the states where he was not the top searched candidate was New Hampshire, where Florida Senator Marco Rubio was the most searched.
Google also polled throughout the debate on who members of the public thought was winning. With about an hour to go at 10:00 P.M., Donald Trump came out first, with Marco Rubio in second, Ted Cruz in third, Chris Christie in fourth, Ben Carson in fifth, John Kasich in sixth, and Jeb Bush in seventh.
