OAKLEY (BCN) — A fire destroyed a residential structure and two vehicles in Oakley Thursday evening, according to the East Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
Firefighters responded to a report of fire at an abandoned residence at 460 Memory Lane at approximately 8 p.m., fire district officials said.
There, they discovered a large volume of flames coming from the back of the structure. The fire was also starting to ignite a garage that was detached from the building as well as a fence and several large trees, district officials said.
The residential structure, garage and everything inside were destroyed, according to the fire district. Two vehicles that were parked in the driveway of the residence were also destroyed.
In all, the fire caused $200,000 worth of damages, district officials said.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries. The firefighter was checked by medical responders for heat-related issues but cleared for duty afterward, according to fire district officials.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Contra Costa County Arson Investigation Unit.
