EMERYVILLE (KRON) — California travelers should brace themselves for lots of company this Fourth of July holiday.
AAA is predicting that more than 4.8 million Californians will be traveling 50 miles or more this Independence Day weekend. That’s about a half percent higher than last year.
Overall, Californians are traveling in record numbers because of a stronger economy and rising income. And it helps that gas prices aren’t too bad at the moment.
Most of the travelers are expected to drive, according to AAA.
Nationwide, more than 41 million people are expected to travel. That is an increase of 0.7 percent compare to last year, AAA said.
