SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) – A woman suffered more than 10 stab wounds after a potentially drug-induced attack at a Buddhist Temple Saturday night.

Jose Murillo, 23, and the woman became friends after meeting through Craigslist about 6 months ago, police learned. The two met up at the Buddhist Temple on David Lane SE near Turner.

Salem detectives believe they were using meth inside the temple when Murillo started hearing voices from under the tables and got angry. When the woman tried to tell him no one was there, Murillo attacked and stabbed her all over her body.

He then dragged her outside and and she ran to hid in the bushes.

Murillo ended up contacting Oregon State Police, saying he was being chased.

It wasn’t until around 5:30 a.m. that the monks arrived at the temple and reported the break in, then at 7 a.m. they found the woman in the bushes. She was badly injured.

Murillo was treated for a cut on his hand and is now being held at the Marion County Jail for assault and attempted murder. He is set to appear in court Tuesday at 3 p.m.
