A series of earthquakes shook Hawaii’s Big Island Friday, according to the US Geological Survey.
The biggest quake was a 6.9 magnitude that hit at 3:32 p.m. PST.
At around 2:32 p.m. a preliminary magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck just 11 miles southwest of Leilani Estates, where cracks in Kilauea volcano’s rift zone erupted Thursday and early Friday.
The volcano spewed lava into the community of about 1,700 people near the Big Island’s eastern edge.
Since early Friday morning, a cluster of earthquakes ranging from a 2.5 to 6.9 magnitude, have rocked the island.
