ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) – Authorities say a man who led Highway Patrol officers on a 120-mph chase has jumped to his death from a Southern California freeway overpass.

The 26-year-old Long Beach man died Saturday morning.

The CHP says the chase began shortly before 1 a.m. after officers tried to pull over a Honda Civic on Interstate 10 in Claremont, east of Los Angeles.

The chase continued onto Interstate 15 in Ontario, where the Honda went out of control and hit a guardrail.

The CHP says that’s when the driver got out, ran and jumped off the overpass onto Interstate 10 below, where he was struck by two cars.
