SONOMA Co. (BCN) — The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help to find the driver of a vehicle that stuck a bicyclist Friday evening near Jenner, leaving the bicyclist with major injuries.

Around 5:05 p.m., a bicyclist was riding a bike on northbound state Highway 1, south of Jenner in unincorporated Sonoma County, according to the CHP.

Witnesses told officers a dark-colored sedan was traveling on the highway, approaching the bicyclist. The sedan then collided with the rear of the bicyclist, ejecting the rider, CHP officials said.

The driver of the sedan failed to stop and continued traveling north on the highway, according to the CHP.

The bicyclist suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, the CHP said.

The CHP is asking anyone who has information about the driver or the vehicle to call them at (707) 588-1400 ext. 377.
