ROHNERT PARK (KRON/BCN) — A 75-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after crashing his van into a tree in Rohnert Park this afternoon, according to public safety personnel.
The crash was first reported at 2:17 p.m. in the vicinity of Rohnert Park Expressway and Country Club Drive.
Emergency crews found a 2000 Toyota Sienna in the eastbound lanes of Rohnert Park Expressway that had crashed into a tree in the median and spun around before coming to rest in a turn lane.
Witnesses said the driver, later identified as Diab Hammoudeh, had veered left before the crash and that he didn’t appear to brake. Witnesses also said the driver was going with the flow of traffic.
Investigators do not yet know if Hammoudeh suffered some kind of medical emergency before the crash.
“Our condolences go out to the Hammoudeh family during this difficult time as they deal with the loss of their loved one,” safety personnel said in a press release.
