MT DIABLO (KRON) — A 74-year-old hiker was rescued by helicopter after falling off a trail at Mt. Diablo State Park, according to the CHP.

CHP officers responded at 4:10 p.m. to a request for assistance from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, CHP officials said.

CHP Officer James Andrews said the woman was walking on the east side of the mountain close to the summit when she fell on the trail.

The woman suffered a lower extremity injury, CHP officials said.

The CHP helicopter crew hoisted the woman into the helicopter and flew her to a ground ambulance, where she was transported to a hospital.
