HARTSELLE, Ala. (WIAT) – Although swimming is fun, it’s also an important skill that can save lives.
Six-year-old Gram Flowers has been swimming for three years. It’s a skill that his family is crediting for Flowers’ grand-dad Carl being alive Friday morning.
Recently Gram and grand-dad were having fun on a jet ski, but a wave flipped the pair off. Gram was okay, but his grand-dad was not. He was face down in the water, but fortunately Gram knew what to do.
“Him being able to swim and keeping his little head straight and making sure I was okay, I think that’s why I’m here,” said Carl Flowers.
Carl Flowers said Gram flipped him over in the water so he could breathe. Gram then called for help.
