On the six-month anniversary of the police shooting death of Stephon Clark, demonstrators are protesting outside a law enforcement conference in downtown Sacramento Tuesday.
On March 18, two officers chased Clark into his grandmother’s backyard and gunned down the 22-year-old after suspecting he had a gun.
It turned out Clark was holding a cellphone.
A renowned pathologist hired by Clark’s family found that he was shot seven times from behind.
Demonstrators led by the local Sacramento chapter of Black Lives Matter are protesting outside the Sacramento Convention Center.
“We’re not gonna shut up,” family members of Clark said at the protest.
Tensions are high Tuesday as the Black Lives Matter protestors were met with a counter protest.
A shouting match has ensued between chants of “Black Lives Matter,” “Cops Lives Matter,” and “All Lives Matter.”
