A reward is now being offered for help finding the person who killed an 8-month-old dog in Sonoma County.
The dog’s body was found in a black backpack on the side of Todd Road and Stony Point in Santa Rosa on Jul. 27.
Now, the Animal Legal Defense Fund is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
A necropsy revealed the 8-month-old Chihuahua Mix, posthumously named Luna, died after being strangled.
The suspect could face up to three years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine.
“This case reminds us that crime victims come in all shapes, sizes, and species,” Animal Legal Defense Fund Executive Director Stephen Wells. said “All victims, whether human or animal, deserve justice. We therefore urge anyone with information to come forward.”
