A 49ers fan is in critical condition after he was allegedly assaulted by another fan.
Authorities say it happened after last Sunday’s game at Levi’s Stadium.
The victim is identified as a 33-year old San Jose man. His alleged assailant is in the county jail, facing charges of felony assault and battery.
KRON4 has obtained the booking photo of 34-year-old David Aguilera Gonzalez, of Madera.
He was arrested without incident after detectives, following up on eyewitness accounts, surveillance video, and a license plate, tracked him to that Central Valley town.
Police say Gonzalez and the victim were in the parking lot near the corner of Tasman and Great America Parkway following the 49ers game with Arizona last Sunday.
Both men are thought to be 49ers fans, so there was apparently no dispute or team loyalties or anything like that.
Instead, the attack was provoked when the victim kicked a bottle, according to Santa Clara Police Capt. Wahid Kezem.
Police believe both men are 49ers fans.
Police are asking any other fans who may have witnessed the incident or may have cell phone video to come forward.
