45-year-old man stabbed, killed in Richmond

RICHMOND — The Contra Costa County coroner’s office today identified a man who was stabbed and killed in Richmond on Friday as 45-year-old Lakota Brightman.

Shortly before 10 p.m., Brightman and another man got into an argument in the 1400 block of Carlson Boulevard, Richmond police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

The other man stabbed Brightman once in the upper left side of his chest, Abetkov said.

Brightman walked into a nearby store seeking help and when police and medical crews arrived, he was transported to a hospital, where he died a short time later, Abetkov said.

No suspects had been identified in the homicide as of this morning, according to Abetkov.
