BENICIA (KRON) —  The 4-year-old boy who died after being hit by a car Sunday in Benicia has been identified as Mahady Quadir, according to the Benicia Police Department.

The collision happened around 4:45 p.m. outside the Benicia Senior Center on East L Street, said spokeswoman Officer Stephanie Polizziani.

A 13-year-old boy was also injured in the incident. They were both  guests at a birthday party at the Senior Center.

A 12-year-old boy was the only one inside the car when it reversed and struck the two boys, Polizziani said.

The boys hit by the car were taken to the hospital where the 4-year-old was pronounced dead. The other boy is still in the hospital with minor injuries.

The 12-year-old boy inside the car at the time of the crash also had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Police are still investigating what caused the collision. They are also offering counseling to Mahady’s family members during this difficult time.

No charges will be filed at this point, and it is being called a horrific accident, police said.
