4-year-old boy struck, killed by SUV near Santa Rosa on Friday night

SANTA ROSA (KRON) — A 4-year-old boy riding a balance bicycle was killed Friday night after being struck by an SUV near Santa Rosa, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident happened at around 6:20 p.m. off Santa Rosa Avenue in the Sonoma Garden Apartments in unincorporated Sonoma County.


The child was riding a “kick” type bicycle when he entered the roadway from behind a parked vehicle, immediately getting struck by a Lexus SUV.

The boy was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries, but around 8:45 p.m. the CHP issued a statement indicating that the boy had died.

The driver has been identified only as a 29-year-old woman from Santa Rosa.
