Five people were taken to the hospital after an ambulance and car collided in San Lorenzo on Monday, according to California Highway Patrol.
One person, a 74-year-old female patient, has died after the accident, officials said. She has been identified as Catherine Sunday.
Officials say an ambulance was headed south on Hesperian Boulevard when it collided with a white Audi traveling east on Lewelling Boulevard.
The ambulance, which was transporting a patient, went on its left side as a result of the impact.
The patient in the ambulance sustained major injuries, while the driver of the Audi sustained moderate to major injuries, according to officials.
Alameda County fire officials say of the five people taken to the hospital, three are EMS personnel.
All patients have been transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to authorities.
Paramedics are on scene.
