MOUNTAIN VIEW (BCN) — A 37-year-old man allegedly found with stolen packages was arrested in Mountain View on Tuesday afternoon, police said on Wednesday.

Javier Ortega was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property and an outstanding warrant, police said.

A patrol officer saw the suspect in the 300 block of Monroe Drive around 2 p.m. and recognized him from past interactions, according to police.

The officer, who knew the Ortega wasn’t a resident of the area, spoke with the suspect and learned he was wanted on an arrest warrant from another nearby agency, police said.

A search of the suspect’s backpack uncovered three packages that Ortega didn’t own, according to police.

Ortega was booked in Santa Clara County Jail, police said.
