MOOREFIELD TWP., Ohio (WDTN) – A detective with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office confirms that a three-year-old Springfield boy who was found in a swimming pool has died.
Lt. Christopher Clark said the little boy was visiting family on Floyd Drive, and playing with other children when he went missing just after 5 p.m. Monday.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says they ‘don’t believe charges will be filed’ in relation to this investigation.
He said an adult discovered him in an above-ground pool a street away at a home in the 4600 block of Mumper Road. Lieutenant Clark said they believe the child was missing for a few minutes.
“Keep your kids close, keep a good eye on them, and just realize that accidents can happen in the blink of an eye,” said Lt. Clark.
He said CPR was performed on scene before the boy was flown to Dayton Children’s Hospital where he died.
He said the homeowner was home at the time of the accident, and was unaware that the child had gotten into the pool.
Clark said there is a deck around the pool.
The incident remains under investigation. An updated report should become available later Tuesday.
