FAIRFIELD (KRON) — Three suspects were arrested in connection with a stabbing on a bike trail in Fairfield on Tuesday.
Fairfield police responded to the Linear Bike Trail near Second Street and Travis Boulevard around 2:25 p.m., to find a male victim with a stomach wound. The male victim was taken to a hospital to treat his wound that is not considered life-threatening.
Witnesses told police the stabbing suspect ran into a home on Michigan Street near Second Street.
When officers arrived at the residence, two hostile male teens confronted the officers.
The stabbing suspect used the diversion to escape through the back door of the residence and then jump over neighborhood backyard fences, police said.
Officers had surrounded another residence and found the suspect hiding in a backyard.
The stabbing suspect, a 17-year-old Fairfield boy, was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, prowling, possession of narcotics, and resisting arrest, according to police.
The two male teens who confronted the officers, Guillermo Gutierrez, 19, a possible Sacramento resident, and a 15-year-old boy, were arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to the attempted murder and resisting arrest, according to police.
Detectives are investigating to determine if the stabbing was gang-related and intend to search the residence for the weapon used in the attack.Bay City News contributed to this report.
