3 suspects at large after student shot to death, another injured in Novato

NOVATO (KRON) – Police in Novato are searching for three suspects wanted for a deadly double shooting that killed a high school student and injured another Wednesday night, according to police.

Deputies received a report at around 5:30 p.m. from a victim who had been stabbed and shot near the end of Fairway Drive, off of Ignacio Boulevard.

Upon arrival, police found the victim, who was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

Police then found a second victim on the hillside in Open Space suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. That victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the two victims are male students at Novato High School. Their identities will not be released since they are minors.

School officials cancelled classes for Thursday while police continue their investigation.

The suspects were described as three Hispanic males, based on information from the first victim, according to police.

The victim that was taken to the hospital is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries Thursday morning.

Marin County Sheriff’s officials said that there is no threat to the community and that they are “very comfortable where we are at” in the investigation.

A shelter in place order was issued for Novato residents in the vicinity of Fairway and St. Andrews drives around 6 p.m. That shelter in place was lifted around 9:10 p.m.
