OLATHE, Kan. (WCMH) — Three Kansas middle school students made sure every girl at their school had a special Valentine’s day.

ABC-affiliate KMBC reported eighth-grader Tristan Valentine, seventh-grader Kyan Rice and sixth-grader Lincoln Holmes spent hundreds of dollars of their own money to buy more than 300 carnations. That’s enough for all 270 girls and 70 female staff members at their school.

The boys positioned themselves at all the entrances and passed the flowers out to every female in the school.

“We wanted every girl to feel important and special on Valentine’s Day,” Valentine told KMBC. “We worked hard to make sure it was going to be a surprise to everybody. I only told a few friends, and the girls seemed surprised and happy.”

“I donated $100 of my own money,” Rice said. “I had the money from soccer refereeing. Tristan and his mom got the flowers Wednesday and brought them to school today. Lincoln and I got here early, and we started handing them out.

Some of the other boys in the school said they wished they had thought of the idea.
