RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (AP) – Authorities say three newborn kittens have been found lined up and decapitated in New York.

An animal-welfare activist calls the crime a “vicious, heinous act of animal cruelty.”

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Suffolk County says the dead kittens were discovered Wednesday in an industrial area of Ronkonkoma (rahn-KAHN’-kuh-muh) on Long Island.

SPCA Chief Roy Gross says a woman who cares for feral cat colonies found them.

The kittens are estimated to be about 5 days old. They were lined up next to one another.

Gross is urging anyone with information to contact the SPCA.
