BERKELEY (KRON) — Three men tried to rob a woman on the UC Berkeley campus on Thursday, police said.
The attempted robbery happened at around 7:30 p.m. on the Upper Sproul Plaza. The woman was walking across the plaza when she was approached by three men.
One of the men asked the woman if he could borrow her cellphone. She said no and tried to walk away.
That’s when the man approached the victim aggressively. The woman then told the man she was going to the police.
The three men then ran north through the plaza.
The woman was not hurt.
Police could not find the suspects.
Here are the suspects’ descriptions:
- Suspect #1: A Black male teenager, 5’06″ in height, with a thin build, wearing a dark hoodie with the numbers “01” on the front, possibly acid wash jeans, white shoes and a white shirt.
- Suspect #2: A Black male teenager, 5’08″ in height, with a thin build, wearing a dark hoodie, shirt with “USA” on the front, possibly acid wash jeans and dark shoes.
- Suspect #3: A Black male teenager, 5’06″ in height, with a thin build, wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants – possibly blue jeans, black & white checkered shirt and light colored shoes.

- Be alert and aware of your surroundings
- When out and about, keep your electronic devices out of public view as they are a popular robbery target
