Three men robbed another man walking along a bike path south of downtown Palo Alto on Friday night, and the suspects are at-large, police said.

The robbery happened at around 8:14 p.m. on the bike path near the railroad tracks between the Churchill Avenue and University Avenue transit center. A man in his 20s was walking south on the path and was texting on his iPhone.

When he just north of Encina Avenue, the three approached him. One of the men knocked the victim to the ground and repeatedly punched him in the face.

The three yelled at the man to give them his phone and AirPods. After they took the items, the three ran north on the bike path towards downtown.

An employee from a nearby business heard the victim yelling and found him on the path with blood on his face. Officers later arrived but could not find the suspects.

The victim was taken to the hospital and released.

The main suspect is white or Hispanic in his mid-20s, around 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighs about 225 pounds. The other two suspects are also Hispanic in their mid-20s, both around 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weigh about 180 pounds.

The victim told police the main suspect was the only one who physically attacked him.
