SONOMA COUNTY (KRON) — Three deputies with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department were injured in a vehicle chase that ended with an officer involved shooting.

At 11:46 p.m. dispatch with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a car driving southbound on Highway 101 backwards in the northbound lanes near Windsor.

Just six minutes later, a deputy spotted a vehicle driving recklessly and tried to stop it on Old Redwood Highway near Starr Road in Windsor. The driver refused to pull over and drove off, speeding south on the Highway 101. The deputy chased the woman, following the car west onto Todd Road and then north onto onto Old Graventstein Highway where the chase ended in the parking lot of 2661 Old Gravenstein Highway.

Deputies told the woman to surrender, but she refused.

As the deputies walked up to the car, the driver accelerated in reverse, hitting three deputies and the patrol car parked behind it. Multiple deputies responded by firing several rounds into the car, hitting the driver at least once.

The driver was taken to the hospital. Deputies did not have an update on the woman’s condition.

One deputies was treated and released from the hospital. Two others received minor injuries from the accident.

Per Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office policy, the Santa Rosa Police Department’s Violent Crimes Investigations Unit is conducting the investigation in this incident.
