Authorities are investigating a suspicious residential fire that claimed the lives of three adults — including two juveniles — early Sunday.
According to police, an officer patrolling the 2900 block of Georgia Street around 2:45 a.m. smelled smoke and was flagged down by an 11-year-old girl who said there were three more people inside the home.
Police say officers attempted to get inside but the house was fully engulfed in flames.
Three female victims were removed from the home. One juvenile victim died at the scene, another died at the hospital, and a third female adult died at a local burn unit.
The 11-year-old who flagged down the officer is expected to make a full recovery.
Authorities are investigating to determine the cause and origin of the fire, which is suspicious in nature at this time.
The names of the victims have not been released.
This remains an active investigation.
