SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Jose fire extinguished a 3-alarm structure fire that burned four separate homes and displaces two people Wednesday night, firefighters said.
The fire broke out just after 8 p.m. in the 1000 block of Ellis Avenue in a home under construction, according to fire officials.
Firefighters said the blaze spread to a garage behind the residence and embers may have triggered a fire at a home on Louise Avenue, which is the street behind Ellis Avenue.
The Ellis Avenue fire was knocked down at 9:07 p.m., firefighters said. The Louise Avenue fire was also knocked down at 9:35 p.m.
The American Red Cross was called to assist two people displaced by the fire.
The home under construction was still in its skeletal stages and was deemed a total loss as a result of the fire, fire officials said.
The other three homes sustained minor external damage and were still salvageable, according to fire officials.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
