MILPITAS (KRON) — An officer-involved shooting took place early Friday morning in Milpitas.
The incident happened at around 12:50 a.m. in a parking lot at Executive Inn located at 95 Dempsey Road which escalated onto the transition road of westbound East Calaveras Boulevard to northbound Highway 680.
A Milpitas police officer conducted a vehicle traffic stop at the hotel. The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended on the transition road.
The suspect got out of his vehicle and fled on food. Officers began chasing the suspect and apprehended him.
It’s unknown what prompted the shooting, police Sgt. Frank Morales said.
Morales could not say how many gunshot wounds the suspect suffered or why the officer stopped the man.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Police describe the suspect as a 27-year-old Hispanic man, San Jose resident, who had several outstanding warrants. No other information was given.
The man is in stable condition with injuries not considered life-threatening, he is expected to survive.
No officers were injured in the incident.
Officers and investigators were on scene and motorists were advised to take alternate routes, the roadway route is now reopened.
The case is currently under investigation.
