25-year-old pedestrian suffers major injuries following Fremont collision

FREMONT (BCN) — A 25-year-old Fremont woman suffered major injuries Sunday evening after a traffic collision and remains in critical condition, police announced Monday afternoon.

At 7:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian at Paseo Padre Parkway and Stevenson Boulevard, police said.

Officers determined the woman was walking west in a crosswalk of Paseo Padre Parkway, against a red light signal.

As she was crossing the street, a vehicle, traveling at about 40 miles per hour south on Paseo Padre Parkway and on a green light signal, struck the woman, according to police.

The driver attempted to stop before the collision, but was unable to do so, police said.

Officers found the woman unconscious, with visible injuries. She was taken to a hospital, according to police.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision, police said.
