SAN JOSE (BCN) — A man shot and killed in downtown San Jose early Saturday morning has been identified as 24-year-old Marvin Jackson Jr., a police spokesman said Monday.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a report of a male shot in the area of South Second and East San Carlos streets, police Officer Albert Morales said.

Arriving officers found a man, later identified as Jackson, suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Morales said.

He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, according to Morales.

Jackson was a San Jose resident, police said.

A preliminary investigation determined that the suspect and victim, who did not know each other, were involved an argument before the shooting, Morales said.

No suspect information was immediately available in the case this afternoon.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the San Jose police homicide unit at (408) 277-5283. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-7867.
