OAKLAND (KRON) — A University of California at Berkeley student was among those killed in the devastating Oakland warehouse fire.

Vanessa Plotkin was in her third year at UC Berkeley. She was majoring in sociology, according to her Facebook page.

The 21-year-old was originally from Lakewood, California.

Plotkin had been unaccounted for since Friday night. Officials confirmed that she was a victim on Tuesday.

While she was missing, family and friends posted on social media asking if anyone knew anything about her whereabouts.

Plotkin is one of many victims associated with UC Berkeley.

A letter from chancellor Nicholas Dirks was sent out Sunday afternoon addressing the Cal community of the devastating news.

“Our hearts, condolences, and prayers go out to the families and friends of the deceased, as well as those who must deal with unbearable uncertainty as they wait to hear about all who remain unaccounted for”
