HAYWARD (BCN) — A 20-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in Hayward after he allegedly beat a woman inside a car and threatened a witness, police said.
Hayward resident Jeswal Prakash was arrested in connection with an incident that began at about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday when officers were dispatched to the area of Industrial Boulevard and Depot Road on a report of a man with a gun.
A witness told a dispatcher that a man was beating a woman inside a car and when the man noticed the witness, he threatened the witness with a gun, according to police.
An officer arrived and saw the man but then lost sight of him as he ran through a field adjacent to state Highway 92. With a police K-9, officers were able to locate and arrest him in the 25000 block of Industrial Boulevard, near Chabot College.
Police said the man, identified as Prakash, allegedly discarded the gun and officers were unable to find it.
The woman appeared to be uninjured when officers found her.
