MARIN COUNTY (KRON) — Two hikers became stranded 75 feet from the base of a cliff in Marin County Saturday evening and had to be rescued by a helicopter crew, according to California Highway Patrol.

The CHP’s H-32 helicopter was on patrol around 7:20 p.m. and its crew saw that the Southern Marin Fire Protection District was responding to reports of a hiker that was off the trail near the Point Bonita Lighthouse.

CHP learned that two 27-year-old men from San Jose had become stranded, according to the CHP.

The helicopter landed nearby and quickly prepared a hoist rescue, with a firefighter attaching rescue collars to the each of the men.

One at a time, the men were hoisted into the helicopter and transported to the command post for evaluation. Neither man suffered any injuries, according to the CHP.Bay City News Service contributed to this report
